Conservation Law Enforcement, A.S.

Conservation Law Enforcement is a 2 year degree designed to prepare students for careers in conservation law, including those students who wish to apply to the Ross Leffler School of Conservation, Pennsylvania’s conservation officer training academy. Students will learn a mixture of basic biology and ecology combined with additional exposure to law enforcement practice and theory. Students who wish to continue their education following completion of the A.Sc. in Conservation Law Enforcement may apply for a 2+2 program that will enable those students to earn a B.Sc. in Natural Resource Management as well.

Program Goals and Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate effective use of ecological principles in both an ecological and law enforcement setting.
  2. Communicate effectively in both oral and written formats for both professional and lay audiences.
  3. Demonstrate expertise in the use of appropriate technologies common to the field.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the ecological principles that underlie the laws being enforced.
  5. Demonstrate and awareness of local and global political concerns and ethical issues associated with the field of conservation law.

Requirements for Admission

  1. Completion of high school coursework in biology, chemistry, and algebra with a “C” or better.
