Early Childhood Education Minor

Upon completion of the Early Childhood Education minor, the student will be able to:
- apply knowledge of child development from conception to age 8 in the affective, cognitive and physical domains to evaluate curricula in ECE;
- differentiate learning activities based on knowledge of children’s learning needs and styles an discipline-specific pedagogy;
- use the Early Learning Standards in the creation of developmentally appropriate plans and assessment strategies to advance the achievement of all children in the classroom;
- explain and use play as the foundation of curriculum development in early childhood and create learning strategies based on play;
- explain the historical and social foundations of early childhood curriculum;
- demonstrate ethical and professional characteristics of confidentiality, sensitivity and respect for all children and their families. conduct research in the field of education that is well-designed and scholarly; and
- use technological skills to develop an eportfolio that showcases professional knowledge, communication skills, and successful work with children.
