ENGL 440 - The Epic Tradition 3 Credits In this course, we study great literary epics as stories that underlie our culture-as well as many of our traditions-and reflect humankind’s continuing search for self-knowledge. We will read The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, and Paradise Lost as literary works and as the embodiments of values. This course may be offered for Honors Program students only some semesters. This course meets the upper level literature requirement for bachelor degree programs.
